Animatic - 1/12/15
This is the animatic for our music video. This has given us a major idea on how our music video will turn out like and if we need to make any changes etc, such as timings and how long a certain take is. Productions make and conjure up animatics in order to give themselves what the production as a whole will look like, what shots will be used and if they need to refer back to something, they'll refer back to this so they know what to shoot next. This piece was planned out by myself, Josh and Mohsin, whilst put together and edited by Jonny as he has good access to editing software on his MacBook such as iMovie, which is becoming very handy in terms of our production pieces.
Feedback from our Target Audience - 4/12/15
After filming it myself, I was able to listen in with great detail to the two participants speaking and giving us feedback towards our animatic piece. We were able to receive qualitative data on their first impressions, the characters in the video, the dancing, drawings and what they would do to improve it. Gaining this feedback has helped a lot with what we need to do to perfect our actual music video and has given us a brief idea on roundabouts how our video is going to plan out and look like. By the two interviewees saying that they like the animatic has given us confidence with where we are going. An improvement that did help was by Corie when he said about how some of the stills such as the one at the chorus should be moving and more energetic, so for this we will make sure we will be more fun and upbeat with our dancing in the actual music video.
One thing that we did pick up on is the instrumental gaps in between each verse Olly sings. Originally, we didn't have an extra drawing to fill those gaps instead it was just blank for like 10 seconds or so, which obviously isn't good enough. So with this, I can happily say that doing ther animatic has made me respect why they are a vital part to production as they let you know what more you need to do when it comes to actually filming, because if we didn't make one, we'd end up with a bit of a shock not having anything to do in the breaks between verses.
